Music has been a powerful tool through history to convey the human desire for peace and justice.
The peace message of the early songs such as,"I Didn't Raise My Boy To Be A Soldier" 1914
(most popular song in US in 1915),
or the parody of Onward Christian Soldiers, "Christians at War",1916 an
American labor/socialist response to the Christian hypocrisy of war making
has not changed much over the years.
The times and wars may be different,
but the need for peace and justice remains the same.
One of the hit songs of 1915, “I Didn’t Raise My Boy to Be a Soldier,”
sung by the Peerless Quartet and written
by lyricist Alfred Bryan and composer Al Piantadosi.
